Supporting Infinitive

SELECT TALENT supported Infinitive over a 5 month period in 2022/2023 with a combination of recruitment strategy and recruitment delivery. One of the key areas of our focus was the creation of a new GIS function to meet the increased demand for these services primarily from the rail sector.

Challenges

Infinitive Group were looking to create a new GIS function. Initial thoughts were that we’d be looking for Head of level and then subsequently a couple of GIS consultants. At kick off briefing two key things came out of a personal specification discussion, firstly the ability to work independently and grow a function and secondly an understanding of rail sector.

The Solution

This recruitment was a key part of our RaaS contract with Infinitive Group. RaaS is our fully outsourced option where SELECT TALENT work as an extention of, or in this instance, as Infinitive Group’s in-house resourcing team. Working in this way we were able to have a thorough discovery meeting to really get to understand how Inifinitive Group worked and what the GIS team and GIS lead needed to be able to deliver. As a growing SME , it’s an exciting time but operations can be quite different to a corporate business and the right candidate needed to thrive in this environment. Working in a RaaS basis we were able to understand the key selling points of Infinitive Group, explain the culture and build outsource/recruitment marketing campaigns that would get these key points across to candidates.

Processes

All RaaS approaches to recruitment are a partnership, in this case between SELECT TALENT and Infinitive Group. We’re here to supportively challenge and help shape requirements, it’s more than just sending CV’s. During sourcing it became clear that the niche requirements might prove tricky; however we were able to put together a short list that Infinitive Group were very happy with.

Results

Initially a Head of GIS candidate was secured and subsequently 2 GIS consultants have joined to strengthen the team. The candidate selected did have less exposure to the rail sector ; however demonstrated outstanding ability in growing GIS teams and working in a start-up environment and has been a real asset to the business. If we hadn’t worked closely with Infinitive group and they had just received a CV , it is likely that this candidate would not have made it past CV screening; however our understanding of the role and qualification abled us to position them as a great fit for the role. By securing a Head of GIS, we have then been able to work closely with them to continue to grow the team in a way that is manageable and fits with Infitive groups ethos.
